A Controversial Career Choice

Filed under: Funy Center, Gambling, Life Of Games — @ 9:46 am

There are a lucky few people out there who make their salaries off of poker. I am not one of them. It’s not because I lack the skills or the drive t dedicate myself to a life of cards- I lack the thick skin. I get enough comments just by playing poker online in the first pace. I can only image how much the comments would escalate if I made it my career.

While most people out there have come to accept the fact that poker is here to stay, there are always the zealots out there who think that all gambling is wrong. These are the people that give you the dirty look s when you drive up to the casino, or sigh deeply and cross themselves when you say you play poker. Obviously, I do not agree with their point of view. However, I find it hard to avoid feeling a bit like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Even though I know I have not done anything wrong, I still feel guilty.

I can’t be a professional poker player because I refuse to accept such a controversial job. If your skin is thicker than mine, go ahead, but otherwise steer clear. Public censure can work wonders on your self esteem.
